Microsoft announced today that the Xbox One can run without the Kinect being plugged in.
A few months back, Microsoft announced that they changed some of the DMR features, and now the Kinect is changing too.
They have stated that the Kinect can be completely unplugged, and the Xbox One system will still work. You can even have it plugged in and still have it off. None of the features like voice command will be accessible, but if a game requires the Kinect, the system will ask the user if it can turn it on.
Does this mean that there will be Xbox bundle packs that don’t include the Kinect? Nope. Albert Penello, a Microsoft Senior Exec, stated:
"We still believe in Kinect. We aren’t interested in splitting the development base. The more demos I’ve seen, the more I’ve used it – the more impressed I am. The team feels strongly about Kinect, and I hope we’re able to prove that when you use it."
I probably wouldn’t use it if I were to buy an Xbox One, but what do you guy think?
